Right, this is a romance and we have to allude to a love interest somewhere.
(If this is late, it’s because I’m trying to draw Bernard but also cracking up and repeating “soOOoo… who’s the gUUuuuyyYYYYYY” to myself in the style of Taran Killam as Thor. Not 100% sure why.)
The flames from the last page are turning PINK! SoooOooOOO… who’s the guuuyyyyy???

Funfact 2: Speaking of Mike, you already know he’s the character most likely to drop “so… who’s the guy?”
Your sense of composition is so good! Do you consciously think of the math of it?
Consciously, no! But from one digital artist to another, there was some Liquefy involved with that swoosh.
Oooh the last two updates come in a pair, nice! And the angst and the pain melt away. It’s neat that Bernard has this whole “cooling” effect here and comes in with the soft blues, ya know, given his… history. Contrasts like that please me.

Good catch: Bernard is infamous for passionate love affairs and blowing up, but he’s the calm one in this relationship for sure. Something interesting I found in the string tables (love me the string tables) was that Bernard showed an attachment to fire before the… fire… in that he was often cold and liked to be near a heat source. And now he’s even colder; he’s dead. Quite unusual for a fire character.
So he gets some calming blue flames. The flames also make him go faster.

Now that I know that Lord Shallot is this hottie Yuan is obsessed with, I am entirely saddened that DING (and not DONG) made its way into this panel.

Like that ghost is totally fingering that flame. HOT. And look at Shallot’s mouth. That grin says it all.
Damn, Yuan. Need a moment?
He does not get dong yet. He has to wait.
And here comes the ‘Nard with those soothing, but more mature, pink tones.
And the wind returns! But the wind is WITH HIM, not against him. He’s moving forward, things will get better.
