Haunted 1-26
I had a friend in grad school who got a crush on every single one of his teachers. Shit’s funny as hell.
Fall 7, 1999? Yes, Fall 7. It should be a Saturday. I totally botched that on a previous page, but it’s fixed now.
UPDATE: I’m having mega work emotions right now (new job is a nightmare and I’m on the verge of quitting), but am trying to build up a buffer. Sorry for the delay!
Ahh! I’m having trouble figuring out what to say because there’s just so much good stuff going on here. The creepy-yet-awesome Iliana silhouettes (I particularly like how she’s leaning into the first panel), the backgrounds (those messily colored squares are doing it for me), Ari’s sunglasses pose (where’d she get those, anyway?). We’ve already learned a bit about others on Xiyuan’s new team, but this page it’s Sirak’s turn, and heh, it’s something! I like it though since I’m still not over the fact that he looks like Peesh, and Sirak’s behavior is extremely unPeesh-like here.
…I did not see the alt text last night. I’M HOWLING
It is something. But yes, he is very much Not Peesh. He’s about as much Peesh as you are.
And the sunglasses are from her Spy Stuff cabinet, duh. Don’t you have a spy cache in your office?
This is funny! I was usually selective in my authority figure crushes, but gosh! Did I ever use them as a (maladaptive) coping mechanism.
Sorry to hear about the work woes. I wonder if there are accommodations you can put into place to make it sustainable.
It will never not be funny! Okay, so it’s not funny if the authority figure decides to reciprocate and the relationship is rigged with power imbalance from the start, but you know there’s no chance of that happening here.
As for the accommodations… I don’t want to say too much, but the situation I’m in is sort of like the boss hired three electricians to fix a toilet and then called the plumber arrogant for daring to look at the pipes. So my work ethic tells me to fix the toilet (while getting told I’m not a team player and need to “respect other ways of doing things”), but in the long term, there’s not much here for me except frustration. Guess it could be worse?
Not much worse, really. I’ve not had much success finding solutions in those types of situations and usually waited them out or tried to get transferred to a different team…
Hhaha I like that Charlie’s Angels moment (Iliana’s Angeles but you know).
OOooh Iliana has DIRT on Sirak! with that “You’re one to accuse me of unprofessional habits.” I like that Sirak is modeled (by part or whole) from a friend in grad school. BUT DID HE ACT ON THOSE CRUSHES?
I like how easily they goad him. It’s hilarious.
Thank hell he didn’t. Crap, I should probably remove that bit in case my friends ever stumble on this.
Captain Gossip, she’s our hero, gonna take Yuan’s privacy down to zero! Information gathering! Emotional manipulation! Detective skills! Sycophanthic thirsting! Miles!
Loving Sirak’s contrapposto and denial here. Honestly, this is a borderline hostile work environment and he should find someone with the authority to… wait, oh no!
